Resavoir: Themes for Dreams
Resavoir’s last-but-one album featured in our very first newsletter albums of the month back in January 2024, so he is the first artist to feature twice. His latest, Themes For Dreams, has rounded out his sound with a host of guests such as Marta Sofia Honer, Jeremiah Chiu, Macie Stewart, Matt Gold, William Corduroy, Molly Rife and more. Together they conjure dreamy mini-symphonies of ambience, jazz, electronics and pastoral warmth from synths, cellos, violas, violins, pedal steel and any other instruments they could find.
Score: Sunburst Body
Score is Chris Tate, who is one-half of Sewell & The Gong and released one of The Chill Out Tent’s favourite albums of last year Patron Saint Of Elsewhere. Score’s solo tape Sunburst Body is perhaps less euphoric but brings that same pastoral warmth to a series solo guitar meditations, all based around a general solar theme. Fans of Vini Reilly will enjoy bathing in Score’s warm sonic glow.
Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy: We Are Together Again
Will Oldham has released over 30 albums in a variety of guises with a variety of friends and co-conspirators over the past 30 years. He returns to his Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy persona for a deeply heartfelt and positive album of folk songs that is up there with his best.
Catrin Finch: Notes To Self
Welsh harpist Catrin Finch’s Notes To Self is a series of reflective and deeply personal new tracks she has composed for Katy, her 13 year-old self. Contrary to what you might expect from 55 minutes of often solo harp, these tunes ebb and flow and create a world of delightfully airy melodies and varied moods.
