Al Kent – Edition #10 After Party

We always close out our monthly Chill Out Tent livestreams with an after party, where the tempo goes up after the mellowness of the earlier sessions. We’re really honored to have one of the kings of the disco edit,’ Glasgow’s answer to Walter Gibbons’ that’s Scotland’s Al Kent in charge of the party for Edition #10 on Sunday 31/1/21/.

Al has a huge back catalogue of top quality edits, compilations and original compositions, find them on his Bandcamp, via Gamm and BBE. He’s been keeping busy through lock down with the excellent Stream the Scene events, make sure to check their top quality lineups.

Eddie Chacon & John Carroll-Kirby x the Chill Out Tent

This Sunday’s Edition #10 of the Chill Out Tent features a set from respected singer songwriter Eddie Chacon and producer / keyboard player John Carroll-Kirby. The pair collaborated on Chacon’s ‘Pleasure, Joy and Happiness’ album, his comeback release after many years away from the music business, “What a rare and cool challenge it was for me to help Eddie re-emerge after a long hiatus,” says Carroll Kirby. “I was excited to produce a record for him that captured the chill, laid-back wisdom and easy vocal mastery he has that you don’t see that much these days.” The success of the album and the redemption of it’s warm reception are not lost on singer – “I was moved to tears. Honestly. Up until that point, I didn’t feel I’d ever done anything real or great in my life. I finally felt like I’d done something good.”

It’s a beautiful album of rare charm and delicacy and one of our favourites here at the Chill Out Tent. Huge thanks to Eddie and John for letting us share their session with the Chill Out Tent community.

Gavin Pretor-Pinney in Conversation with the Chill Out Tent

Our third update on what’s in store for next weekend’s Edition #10 of the Chill Out Tent. We’re really excited to confirm that we had a facinating conversation with Gavin Pretor-Pinney, and the results of this meeting will be shared in a special film in our next monthly Chill Out Tent event on Sunday 31st January.

Gavin is an author, best known for his books The Cloudspotter’s Guide and The Wavewatcher’s Companion, being the co-founder of the Idler magazine and founder of the Cloud Appreciation Society. His cloud-centric world view is one we share here at the Chill Out Tent;

We believe that clouds are for dreamers and their contemplation benefits the soul. Indeed, all who consider the shapes they see in them will save money on psychoanalysis bills.’

Make sure you join us next week for this inspiring film.

Fireside Stories – Steve Jones (A Man Called Adam)

It’s time for our next update on what’s happening for our monthly Chill Out Tent event, Sunday 31st January will see us streaming Edition #10. Next on the schedule is Steve Jones from A Man Called Adam with an atmospheric ‘Fireside Story’ film and music mix.

Edit 3/2/21 – Here’s Steve’s set from Edition #10 – it’s a beauty!

Here’s what Steve had to say about what’s in store for his session,

There is something about staring at a fireside, watching a wood fire burn that always seems the same but always changing. This mix tries to mirror that feeling, moving from early ambient to folkloric to new jazz and featuring artists such as Harold Budd, Common with Jessica Care Moore and Ji Drü. This, then is a fireside story recorded while trying to keep warm on the Île de Ré in France, during the evening curfew.’

Here’s a taste of Steve’s musical direction, a guest mix for Patrick Vidal at Disturbed, Le Mellotron, Paris is a post-punk-punk-funk-no-wave-noise of a selection to soundtrack these dystopian times.
